Resources: Support groups for parents of multiples

Massachusetts Mothers of Twins This is a support group for mother of children with twins, triplets and more! The monthly membership fees vary between chapters, and many include newsletters, meetings, activities, support systems and more. For more information call (781) 646-8946. Each local chapter has towns they serve, but are not limited to the list. Mothers are invited to join any chapter that is most convenient for them.

Attleboro-Taunton Mothers of Twins Club serves Attleboro, Bellingham, Bridgewater, Easton, Foxboro, Franklin, Lakeville, Mansfield, Middleboro, North Attleboro, North Dighton, Norton, Plainville, Rehobeth, Seekonk, South Attleboro, Sharon, Stoughton, Taunton, and Wrentham. Meetings are held on second Monday of the month at the Mansfield Public Library, 255 Hope St, Mansfield. Cape Cod Chapter serves Barnstable, Brewster, Buzzards Bay, Chatham, Dennis, Falmouth, Forestdale, Harwich, Hyannis, Mashpee, Osterville, Provincetown, Sagamore, Truro, Wareham, and Yarmouth. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month at Weldon Memorial Library, Route 149 West Barnstable. For more information, contact Ellen Russell at 508-886-6456 or e-mail her at elnrussell@aol.com.

 

Dedham Regional Chapter serves Bellingham, Brighton, Canton, Dedham, Foxboro, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mansfield, Mattapan, Milton, Needham, Newton, Norwood, Roxbury, Roslindale, Sharon, Walpole, West Roxbury, Westwood, and Wrentham. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at the Big Y Supermarket on Route 1 in Walpole. For more information, call 508-668-3484.

 

Greater Worcester Chapter serves the towns of Central Worcester County. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at the First Baptist Church in Worcester at the corners of Park Ave and Salisbury St. The annual membership fee is $35 per mother. Hampden County Chapter serves towns in Hampden County. Mothers are invited to join this group and take part in members only events such as dinners, meetings, newsletters, play dates, etc. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at Baystate Medical Center, 3300 Main Street, Springfield. Annual membership fees are $20.00 per mother. Merrimack Valley Chapter serves Andover, Boxford, Lawrence, North Andover, and Methuen (as well as some towns in New Hampshire). Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month. Annual membership fees are $25 per mother (or $45 for two years). For more information, visit www.merrimackvalleymmota.org.

Founding Chapter (Boston Metro North) serves the Boston metro area, including Arlington, Auburndale, Bedford, Belmont, Billerica, Boston, Brighton, Burlington, Cambridge, Canton, Charlestown, Chelmsford, Chestnut Hill, Concord, East Boston, Everett, Groton, Hanscom AFB, Leominster, Lexington, Lincoln, Malden, Marlboro, Maynard, Medford, Middleton, Milton, Newburyport, Newport, Newton, North Billerica, North Reading, Reading, Sharon, Somerville, Stoneham, Stow, Tewksbury, Wakefield, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, Westwood, Wilmington, Winchester, and Woburn. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from September through May at the First Parish Church United, 48 Main St, Westford. West Suburban Chapter is the largest twins organization in Massachusetts, and serves Acton, Ashland,  Berlin,  Bolton,  Boxborough,  Boylston,  Clinton,  Concord,  Dover,  Framingham,  Grafton,  Harvard,  Holliston,  Hopedale,  Hopkinton,  Hudson,  Lancaster,  Lincoln,  Marlborough,  Maynard,  Medfield,  Medway,  Mendon,  Milford  Millis,  Natick,  Needham, Newton,  Northborough,  Northbridge,  Sherborne,  Shrewsbury,  Southborough,  Stow, Sudbury,  Upton,  Waltham,  Watertown,  Wayland,  Wellesley,  Westborough, and  Weston. National Organization of Mothers of Twins Club, INC is a national organization that provides mothers with information about local organizations. NOMOTC provides parents of multiples with conventions, information directories, facts about multiples, etc. This organization also provides information for parents expecting multiples, as well as parents who have older multiples. For more information, visit www.nomotc.org.

Keeping Pace with Multiple Miracles is an organization lead by mothers with triplets and more! The organization helps women through networking (through monthly SPRINT-Supporting Parents with Resources and Ideas while Networking Together, meetings), trade clothing and toys, pantries (with diapers and formula), classes and more. Mothers can talk with other mothers of multiples and develop friendships for both mothers and their children. There is also a Children’s resale boutique on-site for mothers to purchase clothing, toys, books, and more for their multiples. Keeping Pace and the Children’s Boutique is located at 194 South Main Street, West Bridgewater MA; 508-5590-0040.

Triplets, Moms and More Inc is way for mothers if higher order multiples to connect with other mothers. Triplets, Moms and More is based in Massachusetts, and also helps mothers throughout New England. TMM provides mothers with the information they need to network with other mothers (through on-line message boards, and through groups), resources in their area, telephone numbers for support, etc. They also have parent’s night-outs and a monthly newsletter. For more information, visit www.tripletsmomsandmore.org
